We can only speculate about his replacement, but could it be 54-year old Frank M. Yiannas, who only recently replaced Dr. Stephen Ostroff as the FDA’s Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response? If so, this could be an interesting development for the blockchain intersection with food. Frank Yiannas came to the FDA from WalMart, where he was the vice president for food safety for WalMart and Sam’s Club and where, following Romainageddon, he gave the produce industry doing business with WalMart only a year to provide end-to-end traceabiltity of fruits and vegetables on a blockchain network.
